An update on Bart and his awesomeness:

Bart has been working hard at his new job and really enjoying it. In addition to learning the ropes at a new place and working in TWO labs, he has also been wrapping up some work he did at Penn during graduate school. Ironically, he found out that his second paper had been accepted for publication on the day that I went into labor with Miles. He found out after Miles was born and said it was really funny because usually that would have made him smile for days, but Miles was SO much better and cooler than getting a paper published. Take that SCIENCE--my baby is cooler than you! Anyway, Bart has one more paper from his Penn days awaiting approval and then he will be able to focus completely on his new work at Emory. If you are interested in seeing the paper, here's a link:

Way to go, Dr. Anderson! I'm so proud of you!
In other news, Miles achieved a great milestone on August 3rd: he smiled at me! This wasn't one of those little reflex I'm-so-happy-I'm-sleeping-and/or-eating smiles. Nope, this was totally a smile that came just from hearing my voice and seeing my face! It made me melt! Below is a video of his latest skill (sorry The Price Is Right is on in the background)

If you haven't already, take a peek at our cute little glowworm below. Also, the video in Richelle's comment is hilarious. AND disturbing.

Nice job, Bart! I read your paper and by "read" I mean I mostly didn't understand much except that you "did stuff" with mice, calf serum, human kidney cells, rabbits, fireflies and snake venmon. Cool!

Miles' smile made me super happy. :) Babies give it their all when they smile at you. There's nothing better to make up for all the late nights and lost sleep.

Seriously...Bart...you speak a different language. Congrats on another publication though. Most importantly, Miles is so cute!

Way to go, Dr. Bart!! You're so smart! No sarcasm, either. I'm totally serious. And I love the fact that Miles wins over science. It's true, though, huh? As silly as it is to love all that drool, barf, poop and sleeplessness... you really do. And it changes your world.

And Miles- your smile is spectacular! Your mommy is so sweet with you and sounds so adorable cooing at you, that I would smile too! She sure does love you! You're a lucky little guy to have such a great mommy and daddy that love your little guts. :) And us, too. We can't wait to see you! You're changing so much already! Love you, sweet little guy!

We love you three! Miss you much.
