This week Bart is going to a Translational Control conference in New York to present a poster entitled, "Nucleoside modifications modulate activation of RNA-dependent protein kinase (PKR)." I'm sure you all know what that means. The picture below represents my mind (top) when I think about that title. The bottom picture probably represents Bart's mind.

Anyway, here's a link to the site where you can see Bart's name listed as a presenter:

Good luck Bart!

Way to go Bart! The coolest nerdy scientist we know. :)

Aww! Thanks, honey! I have the greatest wife ever!!!

That's a nice picture of RNA polymerase 2. I agree Katie's mind is like the more interesting, attractive, and informative ribbon model (top), while mine is somewhat like the functional, reductionist domain model (bottom).

Bart, you smarty pants! And I thought you were calling jewels "honey" and was somewhat concerned. Glad to see that it was Katie after all. :)

You're a brainiac! Brainiac! (Sing to "Maniac" song, if you don't mind... thanks.)

PS. Good luck with your presentation. I know you'll do great!

    Wow, congrats, Bart!

I am so very proud of "the scientist" in our family and wish him all the luck in the world. You too, Katie. I know you will miss him.

When exactly are you going? I was gonna check back to see how you did... but I'm not even sure you've done it yet! So-- you'll have to let me know. Good luck, if it still applies, and if not- I'm sure you did great! ;)

In response to Becca wondering when the conference was ...
I went from Wednesday to Sunday of last week (9/3-9/7). My poster presentation was on Thursday. It went really well - people were interested, and I made some good contact and had good discussions. It was a really positive experience.
