And now we will start looking for a replacement car. I'm sure none will be as loved as much as the first car we had together as a married couple. I can tell you one thing though, we will NOT be buying a PT Cruiser, which is the rental car we have now.
That's good. We think they're ugly.
And they're poorly built. And have tons of blind spots. But mostly they are ugly.

We are sorry for your loss. I hear you about hating the rental! My car had to have work done (the fuel line froze and fuel pump froze/exploded during some
-30degree weather while we were on that vacation in San Diego) We rented a Suzuki Forenza and hated it for a week or so. You should go for a Batmobile, Mystery Machine, or Honda Accord Hybrid.
Mindy's brother Jake and his wife Shanna lost both their cars to accidents within a week of each other. They also received a PT Cruiser as their rental car. They HATED it too. Chrysler hasn't done themselves any favors by selling the Cruisers to car rental companies. People get a multi-day (or week) test drive and decide to never buy one.
